March 2026 Newsletter

St. Cloud Area DFLers:

Wow – where did February go??   Time flew – here’s what happened:

  • Caucuses:  on Feb. 3, we had some 450 people(!) attend precinct caucuses at Tech High School and at SCSU – a great turnout.  Lots of energy, and lots of great candidate speeches.   Delegates to the SD14 District Convention were chosen, and some 60 resolutions were submitted, covering issues such as single-payer health care, limits on ICE activities, BWCA mining, etc.

  • Convention:  225 delegates attendedSteve Simon, Peggy Flanagan, and Richard Carlbom were headline speakers, and we were joined by all three CD6 candidates and three of four State Auditor candidates (including our own Dan Wolgamott; Bea Schierer spoke for her Dad, Ben), as well as messages delivered on behalf of Amy Klobuchar and Angie Craig.  In addition to other party business, we chose delegates to the State Convention and State Central Committee.  Legislative candidates were endorsed:

    • Senate 14:  Aric Putnam

    • Legislative 14A:  Abdi Daisane

    • Legislative 14B:  Zach Dorholt

  • The DFL Office continues to serve as the drop off for food and supply donations for the immigrant support organizations Fe y Justicia and Fahan Organization; despite the (claimed) drawdown in ICE agents in Minnesota, the need for food, household supplies, and rental assistance continues unabated as families are still recovering from 3+ months of living in fear of arrest or harassment.  Many were unable to work during this time; some lost family members.  Please continue donating your time, food, supplies, and funds! (More info below)

The DFL Office is open:

o   Monday-Friday: 1-7pm

o   Saturday : 10am-1pm

o   Sunday: 10am – 5pm

Local Candidate Info:  now that endorsements are official, the real campaign season has begun!  Please support our candidates – donating your time and skills as a volunteer, and your $’s to support their work!   More information at their web sites:
